So after doing a quick small 5x7 as a warmup, I decided to do this view across the road using a bigger 8x10, the sun was overhead and clouds were perfect. I managed to get to this point after about one hour fifteen minutes, then almost within a couple of minutes the sun went behind a bank of cloud...ok so I waited ten minutes and it got worse, these Michigan skyes move fast, so I had promised to do a bbq lunch, and thought I would get that going, and pray the sun came back out, no luck...it became overcast, but I enjoyed the bbq with friends and have decided to let it dry until I can get back home...more to follow..

Yesterdays painting...
Heres my first attempt capturing those michigan fleeting greens and scudding clouds!... felt strange seeing so much colour saturation having lived in california for so long, also a strange feeling using my new pochade box, the glass is so smooth!

Greetings from Michigan
Well I made it out to the sticks of the mid west, near Gagetown, MI, what a day, breakfast at BigBoy then a very pleasant wander around a tractor festival to admire amazing old work horses of the past and present century, and then home to paint on the porch with a beer to celebrate this amazing landscape and christan my new palette box before dinner!
